31VENTURES Global Innovation Fund II has invested in Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC, a world leading company developing fusion energy power plants

Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (Mitsui Fudosan) has invested in Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC (CFS), a world leading company developing fusion energy power plants, through its 31VENTURES Global Innovation Fund II (31VENTURES II).
CFS is the world’s leading and largest private fusion company, utilizing the magnetic confinement system (tokamak type)*1. CFS has announced its plans to build the world’s first commercial fusion power plant called ARC in Virginia in the United States, with the intent of commencing operations in the early 2030s. In June 2025, CFS also announced that it had entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google LLC in the United States for 200,000 kilowatts of electricity from the power plant.*2

Mitsui Fudosan has decided to invest in CFS, recognizing CFS as a pioneering private enterprise in the design and development of tokamak-based fusion energy with world-leading technology that is driving one of the most feasible fusion projects globally. Together with the Japanese consortium of 12 companies participating in this round, Mitsui Fudosan will support the early commercialization and industrialization of fusion power generation in Japan.
