Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., through its 31VENTURES Global Innovation Fund Ⅱ., has invested in Girasol Energy Inc, (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan), a provides PLC, IoT, and A.I. technologies that enable smarter PV Plants.

Girasol Energy provides PLC, IoT, and A.I. technologies that enable smarter PV Plants. The company has developed the PPLC Cloud Engine, a solar IoT platform for photovoltaic plants that can automatically detect and locate abnormalities on a single panel by applying its data-gathering sensors and PV A.I. engine.
Photovoltaic power generation is one of Japan’s leading renewable energies, and the amount of solar power installed is 57 million kW※1 at the end of June 2020, leading the world along with China and Germany.
9 years have passed since the introduction of the FIT※2, and the projects that have been in operation since the beginning have seen their solar panels and ancillary equipment deteriorate over time, and demand for maintenance and power generation recovery has increased significantly.
Girasol is a unique company that can properly evaluate, manage, and repair the performance of solar panels by providing integrated solutions from data acquisition to rehabilitation proposals using our unique technology.

Mitsui Fudosan has been conducting a trial operation of the Girasol’s solution at LaLaport Kashiwanoha from 2019.
It’s triggered by Girasol Energy’s 3rd prize in 2018 at the Asia Entrepreneurship Award (AEA) held every year in Kashiwanoha.

As the trend toward a carbon-free society accelerates day by day,　decarbonization is also an important theme for us, because we owns many facilities using many electricity ,including Kashiwanoha Smart City, which promotes urban development that coexists with the environment, commercial facilities, offices, logistics facilities, and mega solar.
I feel that there is great potential for collaboration with Hirasol Energy.

Through this investment, Mitsui Fudosan will support Girasol in its business development , in the creation of new markets in the photovoltaic power generation field, and Support the strengthening of the organizational structure.

Reasons for and objectives of greening Mitsui Fudosan’s power consumption
The Paris Agreement, which was adopted in 2015, set the goal of becoming a carbon-free society. The Japanese government has also announced under its growth strategy the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. We are aware that the development and use of renewable energy is a social challenge that should be solved together by the public and private sectors.
Mitsui Fudosan provides solutions and services that are consistent with companies’ social missions and management challenges amid the rapid diversification of work styles driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to solve our customers’ problems by responding to their needs. Alongside the greening of power consumption, we are promoting further energy-saving initiatives at our facilities and the creation of renewable energy at our facilities and elsewhere, working with our tenants and joint project owners on carbon-free management in Tokyo and nationwide so that we can create a sustainable society and contribute toward SDGs.
